Godrej Properties

The real estate industry relies heavily on construction workers and is one of the largest employers of migrant workers in the country. Due to the low entry barriers, the industry employs a significant section of India’s surplus non-agricultural workforce. This has only increased over the past several years on account of fast-paced urbanization and high demand for a low-skilled workforce. The sector however remains largely unorganised with systemic barriers that heighten the vulnerability of this informally employed workforce. By providing safe working conditions, equitable living conditions, access to education, skilling and social protection to this largely invisible workforce, Godrej Properties Limited has continued to uphold its commitment towards worker welfare placing worker wellbeing at the core of sustainable business. GPL aims to create a transformational development story that is inclusive, fair, and equitable leading an ecosystem approach with peers across the industry. In addition to investing in strengthening the capabilities of both skilled and unskilled construction workers and support the creation of a future-ready workforce, it has provided access to social protection to 1,72,302 construction workers over a sustained period.
